FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators free?

Yes. Every calculator is free with no sign-up, and the results show the formula used so you can check them yourself.

Which calculator should I start with?

For most concrete jobs, start with the concrete calculator. It handles slabs, footings, columns, steps, walls and post holes, and gives cubic yards, bag counts and weight.

Do the calculators work in metric?

Yes. Each calculator accepts metric inputs and shows cubic meters alongside cubic yards, using NIST conversion factors (1 yd³ = 0.7645549 m³).

Where do the densities and bag yields come from?

Bag yields come from manufacturer data sheets and densities from government and university sources where we could find them. Our methodology page lists every source and marks the values that are planning assumptions.
