Frequently asked questions
How do I estimate the cost of a concrete project?
Work out the volume, multiply by the price per cubic yard your local plant quotes, then add delivery, any short-load fee, forms, reinforcement and labour. Our cost estimators take your local prices rather than guessing a national average.
Why don't these pages show a national average price?
Concrete and labour prices vary by region, season and job size, and we could not find an authoritative current national figure. Use two or three local quotes in the calculator for a realistic number.
What is a short-load fee?
Many ready-mix plants add a fee when an order is below a minimum truck load. Thresholds and amounts vary by plant, so ask when you get your quote and enter the fee in the delivery-cost field.
How much concrete fits in a ready-mix truck?
NRMCA puts typical truck mixers at 8–12 yd³ (5–9 m³), so jobs over that size need more than one truck.
